DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Completes diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on chassis products in a service workshop under limited supervision.
We are looking for a talented Chassis Technician to join our Distribution business in (Boise, ID). will make an impact in the following ways:

Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
Maintain own tools
RESPONSIBILITIES
(Intermediate):
Applies documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools Disassemble, clean and inspect chassis and /or chassis components
Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of chassis and chassis components
Assists more experienced technicians with diagnostics and development of chassis repair plans in the workshop
Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens
Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Adheres to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Diagnosis and Repair:
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Repair and replace faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.
Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid checks, and lubrication.
Inspect and adjust safety devices and protective guards.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and services.
Follow maintenance schedules and procedures.
Documentation and Communication:
Document work performed, parts used, and findings on repair orders.
Communicate with service advisors, shop managers, and customers regarding repairs and issues.
Tools and Equipment:
Proficiently use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized tools for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
Operate lifts, jacks, and other shop equipment safely.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Other Duties:
May be required to test drive vehicles to diagnose issues.
May assist with other shop duties as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, mechanics, and electrical systems.
Ability to diagnose and repair complex problems.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy parts and tools.
Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
Other Skills:
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Formal training in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
Relevant experience in heavy-duty diesel repair.
DOT
A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
A current valid license is required for this role
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
3 years driving experience
This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
